note to self: next time we're planning a road trip- make it girls only!

this friday i took off work and went to jacksonville for my brother's college graduation. (univ. of north florida). my sister was driving us because my fiance' doesn't think my car is reliable. anyway, so since its a 4 hour drive, we decided we would leave at 6:30am. so i woke up at 5:15 to get to her boyfriends house and we were leaving from there. so i showed up at 6:30 on the dot, and so did she. but her boyfriend was coming, so like the big, slow lug that he is, he didn't come out of his house until 7:10! ughhh. i knew already this was going to be a fun day. so when my sister and i are together, we have so much fun, being goofy and jabbering about anything we can think of. but when he is there, she doesn't act liek herself. so i start talking and giving her my cd's to put in and she's like, 'ruben' doesn't like that music. (**names have been changed to protect his identity) so since i am sitting in the back seat with her dog, i can't hear the radio. so i say can you turn it up? so she turns it up. then he turns it down! ugh! PLUS- he didn't say 1 word to either of us the WHOLE way there... even when my sister asked him questions. (why did he even come anyway?) so once we got there, it was fine because we both love my brother and were happy to see him(ruben still hasn't said a word). so then my parents and grandparents arrived and we just watched tv until it was time for the graduation. (ruben still hasn't said anything- except hello). so we went to the grad. and it was nice. then we went to Outback and we had dinner and a few drinks- i can still hold my liquor-even though i haven't been drunk in over 2 years- which surprised me. anyway, so after that, we went back home. my sister was tired and i offered to drive (i wasn't at all feeling the effects of the alcohol by this time- so i would've been ok to drive). so since she doesn't trust me to drive her precious civic si, she said she was alright to drive. the only thing is that someone needed to stay up to keep her awake. since ruben passed out 2 minutes after we got in the car, i was the designated keeper-awaker. so we passed the time by talking about our favorite sponge bob episodes. then we wanted to listen to music, so we turned the radio up and we awoke ruben like a bear during hibernation.

he said "uhhh uhhh whad'ya doin? i'm sleeping"

she said: "well i'm falling asleep here"

then he turned it down and went back to sleep.

then, after a while, i kept drifing in and out of sleep while trying to keep one eye on the road when this semi and a big dodge ram 4x4 were not letting her pass (being assholes) so as soon as she could, she put her blinker on and was about to pass the dodge truck when he decided to switch lanes and run her off the road. that definitely woke me up and i tried to comfort her... but ruben on the other hand, woke up and just gave her a mean look and while she was trying to explain to him what happened, he just went back to sleep.

this frustrates me because she is so beautiful and funny and she deserves better than him. just because they've been together for 3 1/2 years, doesn't mean they have to get married. but she's only 19 and she wants to marry him. i just want her to be happy and she doesn't act happy with him. plus, i can't tell her that because she really loves him. oh well. i just worry about my little sister.

overall, it was a very good trip!
